Artist Statement: Edible Earth

This globe celebrates earth’s bounty of delicious food.  It commemorates the invention of chemical fertilizers derived from atmospheric nitrogen fixation, which has allowed us to feed the growing population on the planet with less land devoted to agriculture.  It also reminds us that with this gift comes the responsibility to stop its overuse, which is causing water pollution and killing life in the oceans, rivers, and lakes. A balance must be considered for a sustainable future.

ARTIST

Ronnie Swire Siegel

MATERIALS

Homemade Play dough (Flour, salt, water, cream of tartar), natural food coloring, wood core.
